On June 26, the former star Jeetendra and wife Shobha became the proud grandparents of a small-son.
Their son Tusshar brings home his first child Laksshya. The baby born through gestational system to another (GPA), is the first grand-son of the Kapoor family. The birth of the child has been a well kept secret. Tusshar had suggested to his friends that he will adopt a child or will use a surrogate mother to have a child before his 40th birthday.
Surrogacy is a method of reproduction which is performed in cases of female infertility due to the absence of uterus, its malformation or following surgical removal (hysterectomy). The surrogate mother carries the child of a couple of “intended parents” who provided the embryos. It usually provides no genetic contribution, that is to say egg, but supports the in utero development of an embryo and, at birth, the child returns to the intended parents. Several scenarios are possible. The intended parents may also be fathers and mothers genetic child if the couple did not use a gamete (or egg donation or sperm donation) or that they did a partial genetic link (using donated sperm or egg) or zero with the child. Shah Rukh Khan has recently resorted to the GPA, and popularizing the practice.
Tusshar is ecstatic: “I am thrilled to be a father! The paternal instincts in me have been overpowering my heart and mind for some time now. Therefore, I am thrilled beyond words to have Laksshya, now the greatest source of joy in my life. By the greatness of God and the excellent medical team at Jaslok, parenthood is an option for many, who choose to be single parents,” says the actor.
