More fear than harm for the pilot of Fennec, the police helicopter on Tuesday, July 12. In the late afternoon, when the operations were ending the day on the MV Benita which ran aground off the cap on 17th of June, the Fennec found himself in trouble.
While it was doing the back-and-forth between the Helicopter Squadron and the MV Benita around 5 PM the helicopter was hit by very large waves. One of the two engines of the helicopter went off forcing the pilot to operate the aircraft with the remaining engine.
If the driver was unhurt, a dozen people including Mauritian mostly were forced to spend the night on the Liberian cargo.
Note that the reconstruction of the events in the presence of the accused has been postponed due to difficult weather conditions prevailing on Tuesday.
