The driver, a 46 year old lady of Australian nationality was driving the car that fatally struck a cyclist near the flyover of Bois-Marchand last Saturday. After the accident the driver went in a state of shock and was admitted to Apollo Bramwell hospital. She was subjected to a breath test which proved negative.
On leaving the hospital, she appeared before the Bail and Remand Court where she had to pay a fine of Rs 5000 and sign an acknowledgment of debt of Rs 50,000 for her release. A charge of manslaughter has been filed against her.
The victim’s body is still in the morgue of Victoria Hospital and has not been identified yet.
