The road has claimed another victim. A young man of 18 living in Triolet hit the left side of a bus in Montagne Longue in the early evening of Thursday July 21. The motorcyclist did not survive to his injuries. The passenger of the motorcycle was seriously wounded and was taken to the SSRN Hospital in Pamplemousses.
Purlackee Roshan, Abhishek for relatives, had a gruesome end. This young rider of 18 years, who was accompanied by a relative, crashed into the left side of a bus that came from Port-Louis towards Montagne Longue. Roshan Purlackee succumbed to his injuries. As for the passenger, he was transported to the SSRN Hospital in Pamplemousses.
The bus driver Ajay Kumar Seebarrun, a resident of Montagne-Longue aged 46, was taken to the Montagne-Longue police station where he underwent a breath test which proved negative. “Le motocycliste venait en sens inverse et il m’a percuté,” said the driver. After interrogation he was taken into police custody.
The father of the victim Vikash Purlackee is in shock. “La motocyclette d’Abhishek est actuellement en réparation. Linn pran motosiklet prete avek so tonton pou al kot so kouzin Montagne-Longue. J’ignore encore les circonstances de cet accident,” laments Vikash.
He still remembers the last words said by his son. “Mon fils fréquentait un collège privé de la capitale. Il m’a dit qu’il avait des examens ce jeudi et je lui ai souhaité bonne chance. Et jeudi, il est allé prendre part à ses examens. Je n’ai pas pu le rencontrer le matin, car je suis parti travailler tôt.”
An autopsy will be performed on Friday to determine the cause of death. The driver will appear in court of Pamplemousses on Friday for his indictment. The survey conducted by the sergeant Meenowa is under the supervision of the Chief Inspector Juliet.
