They achieved their dream. Five young Mauritians who are football fans have finally treaded the soil of the country of their idols few days ago. Their two iconic idols being Pele and Ronaldinho.
The group of friends nicknamed the Black Stars 91, has not failed to fly internationally. After outclassing more than thirty Mauritian teams last May, the five Mauritians confronted forty international teams in Santos, Brazil.
From 9 to July 12, the final stage of this tournament “5-a-side” was held at the training center of Neymar da Silva Santos Junior.
Their entry has indeed made a strong impression: they defeated the American, Turkish, Japanese and Malta teams and they have thus been able to demonstrate their talent.

Mervyn Jocelyn, Clarel Jackson, Mariane Bruno, Stéphane Nabab and Nikhil Gadarsing triumphed in Kosovo during 16th final. However, the 8th finals got tougher against the Netherlands, a nation reputed for its success in football competitions.
With an injured player on the field and with no substitute player (the footballer Christopher L’Enclume had to stay in Mauritius), the Black Stars 91 failed to win. Holland won (5-0). But the Mauritian players did their best and according to Clarel Jackson, they are not ashamed of having lost to the vice-champions of this competition.
The Brazilian team Anjos de Bora won the trip to Barcelona to meet Neymar Jr and see it evolve during a match of FC Barcelona.
If the route was completed too early for our fellow Mauritians, the adventure will nevertheless rewarding for the young people. Impressive level of play, friendly international colleagues, sharing and discovering different cultures. This was indeed an amazing experience that will be cherished by our compatriots who made all of us proud to have had the opportunity to promote the country’s image on the world stage.
