Based on the information received, a policeman from the Field Intelligence Agency visited the Brabant Street, Port Louis on Friday to intercept a man suspected of being involved in at least six cases of theft in the capital.
Arriving on the scene, the officer who was not wearing his uniform chased the suspected thief after the latter was spotted. During his escape, the 30 year old suspect found refuge in a hardware store. He made the owner and employees believe that an individual was chasing him.
They believed the ‘thief’ and forced the plainclothes policeman to leave the store despite showing them his identity.
Taking advantage of the situation, the suspect fled. The ‘thief’ is still wanted.
