“Virer devirer nu pa pu payer,” “Nu zot futur. Pa zouer avek nu lavenir”, “Pran konte, nu zot lavenir”…
This is what we could see on some placards brandished by the students at the sit-in held in several state colleges on Friday, September 9.
These college students are asking the government to review its version. The attendance rate of 90%, required by candidates of the School Certificate (SC) and Higher School Certificate (HSC) for them to be exempt from examination fees is a source of controversy.
In a circular issued on Thursday, September 8, the Ministry of Education says that candidates must have covered an attendance rate of 90% for the period from January 11 to September 9, 2016.
Now, in a first press release a week ago, the attendance rate only covers the period from January to July 2016.
