The Labour leader proceeded to the laying of wreaths at the birthplace of the father of the nation in Kewal Nagar, Belle-Rive on Saturday September 17. This was done to celebrate the birth of Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam. Navin Ramgoolam commented briefly on some current issues including the verdict of the court of Bologna in Italy, that is, on the case of the extradition request of the Mauritian government against Nandanee Soornack. An application that has been dismissed by the Italian court.

Navin Ramgoolam was asked about his feelings after the verdict and he simply replied: “mwa ki mo éna pou fer ar linn gagn so zafer Itali ?” He then invited his supporters in congress organized by the Labour Party in Triolet on Sunday 18 September.
