Muhammad Ashfaq Khan Mohidinkhan, 24, was sentenced on Tuesday September 20 with a sentence of 10 years in prison after being convicted in the drug possession assizes.
Arrested in June 2012, Muhammad Ashfaq Khan Mohidinkhan received a separate trial to Jean Marc Yan Ng Teck Man King, who was also arrested in the case, after he indicated his intention to plead guilty to a reduced charge of possession of heroin.
Muhammad Khan Ashfaaq Mohidinkhan and Jean Marc Yan Ng Teck Man King were arrested by the drug squad (ADSU), while trying to sell two kilograms of heroin. He said in court Monday 19 September that he was trapped by his friend Jean Marc Yan Ng Teck Man King.
The young man, in a statement to Radio Plus after his conviction, is satisfied with this sentence:
“Je suis satisfait de cette sentence. Je continuerai à collaborer avec la police pour dénoncer ceux qui sont impliqués. Je demande au commissaire des prisons Vinod Appadoo de m’incarcérer à la New Wing pour ma sécurité.”
“J’ai peur. J’ai déjà reçu des menaces. Si mo al Melrose banla pou tir mo manze ! J’espère que la prison me prenne au sérieux,” said Muhammad Khan Ashfaaq Mohidinkhan on Radio Plus.
Muhammad Khan Ashfaaq Mohidinkhan spent 1529 days on remand. The trial against Jean Marc Yan Ng Teck Man King will start on Wednesday 21 September.
