Mr. Pomela appeared in court in Rose Hill where a provisional charge of “soliciting another person for immoral purpose against payment” was used against her. This inhabitant of Quatre-Bornes was arrested on Tuesday 13 September when she tried to offer her charms to an element of the Special Mobile Force.
On that day, Pomela M. did not suspect that she was dealing with a police officer when she offered sexual services. It was then 00:25 AM. A car was parked in the parking lot of Quatre-Bornes market. Pomela M. who was looking for a customer then approached the vehicle. She never imagined that there was a 24 year old police officer on board the car .
Meanwhile, a police vehicle was on patrol in the area. Constables Mootoosamy and Seechurn who performed their patrol approached the vehicle. The young man did the same and said he was an officer assigned to the Special Mobile Force (SMF). He narrated his colleagues that this woman tried to sell her charms “Sa madam la finn rant dan mo loto ek pe propoz mwa pou gagn relasion sexuel ar li. Monn dir li mo pa dakor. Li pe persiste.” The policeman and the girl were taken to the police station. The officer told investigators that the woman offered him sex against a sum of Rs 500. When questioned, Pomela M. argued her right to silence.
The investigation is conducted by the Police Woman Inspector Appadoo of the Sodnac police station under the supervision of police superintendent Gukool.
