[Video] Bel-Ombre: Fisherman Dies Drowned After His Boat Capsized

Jayduth Bholah, 62, resident of EDC, Bel Ombre, was at sea with his son Sunildutt on Wednesday night October 5 when their boat capsized. The two fishermen fell into the sea. The sexagenarian disappeared into the waves in front of his son.

For several years Jayduth Bholah earned his living as a fisherman. He was the father of four children including Sunildutt aged 38. The latter joined his father in his business after leaving his work. They were inseparable.

It was aboard the Roi de mer, the canoe of Jayduth, that they took the sea on the drama day. “Lamer ti korek,” says Sunildutt. However, they witnessed the unexpected on that night when a swell rose. “C’était une houle silencieuse.” The father and son did not have enough time to hold onto their boat. “La vague a soulevé le bateau avant de le laisser retomber violemment,” says the man. They were both projected into the water.

“He loved the sea”
He returned to the beach by swimming.

The lifeless body of Jayduth was removed from the water and taken to the morgue. The autopsy revealed that the victim died of asphyxia due to drowning. In the family of the fisherman, there is consternation. The latter holds no fisherman card. He now wonders about his future. The funeral of the victim took place on Thursday afternoon October 6.
