An attempt to pass drugs to a prisoner of Grande-Rivière-Nord-Ouest prison was foiled by prison guards on Monday October 10. The suspicious behavior of the two visitors aged 18 and 19 raised the red alert.
In a statement to the office of the Anti Drug Smuggling Unit & Central Barracks, the prison guard assigned to the visiting section said he was on duty with another colleague when he noticed that the young men were watching their actions and they seemed stressed. Subjecting them immediately to a body search, the guards found three synthetic cannabis doses in the seams of their pants.
The suspects admitted that these products were intended for a friend incarcerated in prison. They were prosecuted on the same day and are the subject of a provisional charge of “possession of synthetic cannabinoids for the purpose of delivery with aggravating circumstances”.
