Allegations Of Death Threats: The Ordeal Of A Young Mother

Her lover had threatened to burn her with acid or, worse, to kill her if she did not do his will. Convinced that he will execute his threats, the young woman of 27 years has decided to make a complaint against the father of her two children. The man is actively sought by the police.

Naina met her lover in 2010, while working in a factory.

“Se pa premie fwa ki li menas pou zet lasid lor mwa,” says 27 year old Naina (*). The mother of two children, aged three and one and a half, fears that the father of these, a married man, carry out his threats. She has decided to make a complaint against her lover, a security officer of 35 years from Valetta. She recorded a first statement against the thirties on Thursday October 13, in which she alleges that the vigil would have made threats against her via his mobile phone. She filed a new complaint against him on Tuesday October 18, in Bel Air police station, where she accused him of death threats and acid attack, but also sodomy.

“Li ti demann mwa pou vann mo lasenn lor pou donn li kas la. Li dire moi ki CEB inn koup so kouran ek ki so bann zanfan dan nwar. Linn ankoler letan monn refize. Li telefonn mwa, li dir mwa ki mo ena galan ek ki li pou vinn ek taper kot mwa li pou zet lasid lor mo figir,” alleges the woman. Having repeatedly been victims of his blows and shots, Naina said many know the “bad character” of her lover. “Souvan li fer mwa pran kas prete ek vwazin. Si mo dir li non, li batt mwa,” says the young woman, who says she met the security guard in 2010, while working in a factory.

The man continued to visit her, and she fell pregnant again.

“Ti ena enn po ek enn likid maron ek li”
“Depi ki mo zanfan inn ne, zame li pa finn aste nanie pou zot. Plito li vinn tir kas ek mwa li ale.” Naina does not work and receives a social allowance for her two children. She is also dependent on her mother’s old age pension, aged 65, to make food for the family. “Monn osi aprann ki zame li pann separe ek so madam. Kan mo repros li, li batt mwa ek menas mwa. Li dir mwa si mo kit li, li pou vid lasid lor mo parti prive pou ki mo pa refer mo lavi.” The security guard came to see her twice a month to have sex with her. However, he did not come to visit her for three months and even phoned the girl to tell her to forget him.

However, Naina’s relief was a shot one as Tuesday October 11, the vigil would have contacted her again asking for money. “Quand j’ai refusé, il s’est fâché et a raccroché. Jeudi, il m’a appelée et a menacé de m’attaquer à l’acide le dimanche suivant.” She immediately went to the police station who called the suspect to give him a stern warning. However, this did not slow the lover and he went to her place on Monday 17 at around 9:45 PM. “Li ti vinn dan enn kat-kat ek linn dir mwa sorti, li bizin koz ek mwa. Ti ena enn po konfitir ek enn likid maron ladan. Monn telefonn lapolis lerla. Kan bann polisie inn vini, kat-kat la inn al pli devan. Lapolis pann fouy zot ek finn dir zot ale. Mo kone li pou revini ek, to ou tar, li pou zet lasid lor mwa,” says Naina.

She claims to have a recording in which the lover gave her death threats. She has handed it to the Cybercrime Unit. The Bel Air Police took this matter very seriously and launched an arrest warrant against the security guard who is till being sought. The Family Protection Unit also took the case and the victim was able to obtain a Protection Order 11 days as from Thursday October 20.
