A mother and her son were on their way back from a visit to the family for the Divali festival when the tragedy occurred at about 1:00 p.m. on Saturday October 29 in Sotisse, Grand Bay.
Indranee Thanthanee, 49, and her son Venen, 25, died on the spot after the motorcycle on which they were traveling hit an electricity pylon.
Residing in Grand Bay, Indranee Thanthanee went to her sister’s place at The Vale. On the way back, at the height of Sotisse, his son Venen lost control of the motorcycle while trying to overtake a car.
The motorcycle then crashed into a power pole, and mother and son were projected on a mound of soil on the side of the road. They died instantly.
The investigation is led by sergeant Gokool and is ongoing to establish the circumstances of this fatal accident bringing the death toll to 113 on our roads since the beginning of the year.
