More fear than harm caused! A Central Electricity Board (CEB) pylon was knocked down by a dumpster belonging to the municipality of Port-Louis shortly before 8:00 AM on Thursday November 17 in Sainte-Croix. See photos below:

The incident occurred when the truck driver wanted to park his vehicle on the side of the road to allow another vehicle to pass. No injuries have been reported.

An inhabitant of the region testifies: “I called the 130 [CEB hotline] at least a dozen times. But nobody answered my calls. I had to call 999 [police hotline] to convey the message. Les câbles électriques trainaient sur l’asphalte. Heureusement que des techniciens du CEB sont arrivés pour tout réparer.”

“Service 130 works great. I tested it for you,” says a senior official from the Ministry of Public Utilities.
