GRNO Prison: Drugs Dissimulated In A Wall

Drug traffickers redouble their ingenuity to introduce drugs into penitentiary institutions and the country. 2.5 grams of heroin were found in a kitchen wall in the GRNO prison on Thursday November 24. It is a guard, who carried out a routine check, that discovered the drugs. The drug was hidden in two plastic bags.

The Metropolitan Division of the Anti Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) has been summoned to the scene and an investigation is underway.

Still in the course of the day at the central post office in Port Louis, the drug was discovered in a greeting card from Kenya. It was addressed to an inhabitant of Vallée-des-Prêtres.

A “controlled delivery” operation was mounted but no one came to receive the package. It was opened by the ADSU in the presence of a post officer. The birthday wish card contained 22 grams of whitish powder suspected of being heroin. The investigation is continuing.
